Walls, floors and roofs are made to the millimetre in our hall — insulated, airtight, windows already fitted. What is left on site is assembly. A house is weathertight in three days.

Three building systems, one factory

We do not build with one system, we build with the one that suits the project — usually all three in the same building: frame in the facade, cross-laminated timber in the floors, modules wherever speed decides everything.

Studs in structural solid timber, cellulose blown in, boards bonded on both faces. Windows, cladding and conduit are fitted in the works. The element leaves the hall taped airtight and arrives on site that way.

Floors, roofs and stabilising wall panels

Boards bonded crosswise, three to seven layers. It spans both ways, braces the whole building, and stays exposed wherever you want to see it. Silver fir or spruce, visual grade to choice.

Volumetric modules

Fully fitted modules for schools, offices and care homes

Whole rooms, finished in the works: floor, ceiling, plumbing, electrics, windows. On site they are craned in and connected. They can be taken down again and re-erected elsewhere — which schools need more often than you would think.

From shop drawings to the crane

Prefabrication means decisions happen earlier. What gets improvised on a site has to be designed twelve weeks ahead with us — that is the adjustment, and it is where the whole gain comes from.

    Shop drawings

    Every component is fully designed before the first cut, services included. Where a pipe passes through a stud is decided in the model, not with a drill.

    CNC cutting

    A five-axis machine for studs, rails and CLT. Cut-outs, holes and connections are made in one pass, to a tolerance of ±1 mm over the full length of the element.

    Element assembly

    Two lines with a turning table. Board, insulate, tape, fit windows, apply cladding — the element is turned once and finished on both faces.

    Airtightness and moisture

    Cellulose is blown to density and logged, every taped joint documented. Timber moisture content at assembly is 12 ± 2 % — measured, not assumed.

    Transport and erection

    Elements up to 16 m travel as abnormal loads, modules up to 3.6 m wide go as standard freight. Our own erection crew puts them up: a house in three days, a school extension in seven.

Applications

Where prefabrication earns its keep

Anywhere construction time costs more than material: when the business has to keep running, the school has to reopen in September, or the neighbours have only so much patience.

Housing

From single houses to four-storey apartment buildings. Separating walls arrive with a tested acoustic rating, not an estimate lifted from a catalogue.

Schools and nurseries

The window is the summer holidays and it is not negotiable. Two months of erection instead of two months of structural work — that is the whole reason these buildings go up in timber.

Rooftop extensions

Light elements on existing floors. A storey in AURA-W weighs roughly a quarter of a masonry equivalent — often the only option the existing structure will carry at all.

Offices and industry

Long spans in cross-laminated timber, left exposed. It saves the ceiling build-up and delivers the finished surface with it.

Care and health

Modules with pre-installed bathroom pods. Operation is never interrupted, because the fit-out does not happen in the building.

Tourism

A short building season between two trading seasons. What goes up in spring has to take guests in December.

Evidence, not assurances

A component is worth what its evidence is worth. What can be calculated, we calculate. What has to be tested, we have tested — and we say which of the two a number is.

  • Test certificate, not a calculation

    Fire and acoustic performance cannot be derived from a layer stack, however plausible the arithmetic looks. Every REI and every Rw figure in our catalogue rests on a test report to EN 13501-2 and EN ISO 10140 respectively.

  • Timber fraction included

    In the stud zone the timber conducts about four times better than the insulation between it. Our U-values are area-weighted — leave that out and you publish a figure the finished building will not deliver.

  • Moisture is measured

    Every delivery of structural timber is measured and logged on arrival. It is built in at 12 ± 2 %. One per cent too high and the wall is still moving when the screed has long since gone down.

  • Traceable to the batch

    Every element carries a code. It leads back to the shop drawing, the cutting log, the blowing density and the timber batch — retrievable for ten years.

Reference

Eight classrooms, one summer

Rietbach primary school needed eight more classrooms and had only the summer holidays. The existing building stayed in use, the playground was the only access, and teaching had to start on 5 September.

We prefabricated for eleven weeks while lessons were still running. Demolition began on 8 July, the first crane arrived on 15 July, and after seven days of erection the extension was weathertight. Fit-out took the rest of the holidays. Nothing was missing at the start of term except the facade stain, which went on in October.

We took the old gym down on 8 July, and on 5 September the children were sitting in their new classrooms. I had not promised that to anyone beforehand.
